THE GRAPEVINE - THINGS AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE ANYMORE

This seems to be a one off recording, and unfortunately I have no info about the group. I would assume they were from southern California...

Whatever the story, it's a lovely song and one that still seems far too relevant today.

from 1967...

  1. The 45 was the work of the great Mighty Mo Rodgers and was one of several Double Shot/Whiz tracks heard on the soundtrack of the 'lost' 1968 film "Popdown". A track that deserves far wider recognition.

  2. Hello
My name is Mighty Mo Rodgers
and I wrote and sung "Things Ain't What They Used To Be Anymore" back in the late 60's for Double Shot/Whiz Records under the name Grapevine. I was a writer/producer mostly back then. It's Beetleish because someone said could you do a Beetle like song and i said "sure".
