ERIC BURDON & THE ANIMALS - IT'S ALL MEAT

Much to the chagrin of vegetarians everywhere, a very psychedelicized Eric Burdon pays homage to his favorite musicians and things by comparing them to meat (much to the delight of omnivores everywhere) on this trippy, rocking jam from near the end of his helm as an Animal.

Buried on a relatively unlistenable, pretentious double LP, this track is one of the reasons why 45's are such a great choice for the consumer, as we are truly treated to very lean "all meat" and no filler.

from 1968...

ERIC BURDON & THE ANIMALS - IT'S ALL MEAT

  1. US-pressing (?) with the German picture cover. Great! It's all meat from the same bone... I've got that one too. It was the only flop Eric ever had in Germany. The wonderful ballad on the a-side probably was too soft for us kids back then. Guess it only was released to try an instant repeat of the surprise hit "San Franciscan Nights".

  2. Hmmmm looking at it again, it must be the UK pressing in a German sleeve. US never uses a center. To make it even more international, I bought this record in Sweden!

  3. Can anyone fill in the blank on the lyrics to this song?

"It's all meat on just one bone
    When _____________ walks,
    When Eric Clapton talks
There's only one place it can come from"

Who the heck is this guy singing about?

  4. The sound of Muddy Waters and the voice of Jimmy Reed
    When Ray Charles moans
It's all meat on that same bone
It's all meat on just one bone

When Miles Davis blows his horn,
    When Ravi Shankar plays
    It's all down home
But it's all meat on the same bone
It's all meat on just one bone

    When Erkel Darbies walks,
    When Eric Clapton talks
There's only one place it can come from
And it's all meat on the same bone
    All meat, same bone,
    Do it!

Don't you listen to none of them jive hip squares
Try to tell you where the blues is from
'Cause the blues is from the whole wide world
Deep within the souls of men.

    When Muhammad Ali gets mad
    When an Irishman drinks
    It's all for a woman
    It's all for his home
It's all meat on the same bone
    It's all meat, same bone
    It's all meat, same bone
    Same bone, same thing
It's all soul, It's all meat
