Another perfect double sider!
Detroit's Rose Battiste was a victim of poor promotion, as the quality of records like this show her to be a VERY capable vocalist (at all of 19 years old when this record was cut) with excellent material and production.
"Hit & Run" is yet another perfect, uptempo Detroit four-on-the-floor stomper, while "I Miss My Baby" features a genius arrangement pitting a dreamy, moody sound against some of the most forceful, aggressive drumming in all of sixties soul.
One word- PERFECT!
from 1966...
HIT & RUN
I MISS MY BABY

I really like "Hit and Run"! This is such a cool blog Derek! Thanks for doing this for all of us soul lovers!!!!
Oh, man, this is terrific. It's great to hear both A and B sides. Excellent record. Thank you!!
You've outdone yourself today, Derek!!!! Back in the '80s I had a copy of this myself, but it must be very hard to lay your hands on one these days. A double-sided Detroit masterpiece. Thank you! Marie
Wow.. Both sides are amazing! Absolutely superb.. Thank you!
Check out what I've been drinking recently!

The English Northern Brewery has a blonde ale named Hit And Run. And it is delicious.
wish I could get that beer in the states! I'd buy it just upon principle.
Cool, I've never heard I Miss My Baby (with vocals) I've heard it as an instrumental called "The Bari Track" on a few NoSo compilations.
Love 'Hit and Run' too since hearing those compilations that got me into the stuff years ago. Hope to encounter this sometime myself in my digs.
