THE GRAPEVINE - THINGS AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE ANYMORE
This seems to be a one off recording, and unfortunately I have no info about the group. I would assume they were from southern California...
Whatever the story, it's a lovely song and one that still seems far too relevant today.
from 1967...
THE GRAPEVINE - THINGS AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE ANYMORE
The 45 was the work of the great Mighty Mo Rodgers and was one of several Double Shot/Whiz tracks heard on the soundtrack of the 'lost' 1968 film "Popdown". A track that deserves far wider recognition.
Hello My name is Mighty Mo Rodgers and I wrote and sung "Things Ain't What They Used To Be Anymore" back in the late 60's for Double Shot/Whiz Records under the name Grapevine. I was a writer/producer mostly back then. It's Beetleish because someone said could you do a Beetle like song and i said "sure".
