TOM JONES - HIDE & SEEK
Tom Jones proves himself to be the Welsh equivalent of Jackie Wilson on this cut that truly taps into the magic of r&b. And to think, this gem was hidden away as a B-side!!!!!
I love seeing the Parrot label. I used to have many 45's pressed by them. I used to despise Tom Jones when he was first becoming well known. I have since revised my opinion, in large part to my son urging me to give him another listen. I reluctantly admit that I now find a good number of his performances enjoyable and (sigh) I have to add this track to that list. Thank you!
hey derek.your blog is a sensation. i love the tracks you choose to upload here .. wow man. go on with your beautiful work and hell yea: i keep the faith and spread it ...
Although "Hide and Seek" was the B side of "Love Me Tonight" (which I remember from the Top 40 on WABC in the summer of '69) I am pretty certain that this side dates from 1966!
Sir Tom is not only the greatest white soul singer of all time, but one of the greatest ever, if not THE greatest!

And he sounds just as great in 2010.
It's NOT unusual... not for him!
