THE CABLES - BABY WHY

While I have quite a few collections, box sets and LP's of early reggae, I have never collected the 45's as I feel quite overwhelmed by the massive amount of 45's out there (and I'm already overwhelmed by the staggering number of soul and beat 45's that I'm still seeking out and discovering). However, I was recently in Toronto and luckily, on the same day I was there, a record show was on and I found a nice stack of 60's/ early 70's reggae 45's for a good price.

The Cables were led by Keble Drummond, and the group name was a play on his name, and also the fact that there music was "like a cable around the world".

A sublime track with absolutely mesmerizing harmony vocals.

Hi Derek,

Sounds like a great haul from the record show in Toronto (my hometown as a matter of fact). Look forward to hearing a few more.

My music links were broken this morning (for the second time) so I checked your blog and found the same thing. For the moment, everything seems to be working. You wouldn't happen to have heard any recommendations for other embedded music players have you? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Also, if it's not too much trouble, is there any chance that you could change my link on your blog from Spread That Rhythm Around to http://catchthattrainandtestify.blogspot.com/ ? I've merged my two blogs and this one gets the most traffic. Thanks, Marie

Man, I used to have an original of that on Studio One. I sold it to a friend of mine who still pulls it out every time we see each other!
