FROSTY - ORGAN GRINDER'S MONKEY

First off, I have to give some major props to two friends in regards to this record; first off, Eric Colin played this at Mod Chicago and hipped me to it. Luckily, another friend and excellent DJ from Milwaukee WI, Dave Monroe, had a duplicate copy he was able to hook me up with. Thanks a million, amigos!

This song, probably a studio group concoction, takes massive cues from a certain Beatles song on the White Album but is SO MUCH FUN all sins are forgiven. If you're gonna steal...

from 1969...

The new phone book's here--I'm somebody! Uh, albeit from Milwaukee (though born in Madison; for the record ['no puns where none intended," to paraphrase Samuel Beckett, I first heard it from NC/LA's DJ Marco, a.k.a. Soulmarcosa, but I thin...k Eric ultimately claims the kill on it anyway; but from Chicago to the Research triangle to the City of Angels to Milwaukee to you ...), so ... but happy to oblige, keep up the good work, and see you no later than Iggy (+ the night before, hopefully, I may have a new Chicago beachhead to bivouac @ by then ...) ...

I've played this one on Topshelf Oldies before although it went over like a led balloon there! Oh well! I still love it...

I'm actually not familiar with the song - it's possible Dave heard it from my co-DJ Midnite Cowbwoy in NC. In any case, Eric's claim still holds. - Soulmarcosa

Actually, this has been spinning in Europe for a while - I got my own copy six / seven years ago after listening to it at an eBay auction, and played it quite heavily for a while. Some other Djs adopted it too - I believe that you could have listened to it from my pal Borja Gorostiza, who was guest at ModChicago some years ago. Later I found that some indicviduals outside the scene had been playing it even before, so most likely this grabbed some attention stateside sometime during the past 40 years, this thing being cyclic and so.

SUPER site you have, by the way! It shines!
