LITTLE GARY FERGUSON - A MOTHER'S LOVE

Predating Michael Jackson/ The Jackson Five, there was Little Gary Ferguson from Texas, who (the story seems muddled) may have moved to Nashville around 1966 to seek fame and fortune. Hoss Allen, host of the amazing TV show "The !!! Beat" more or less discovered him and featured him on the show a few times and the then 8 year old had a fantastic mini-James Brown stage show happening with a surprisingly developed voice (check out the youtube clips; they don't disappoint!)

This seems to be his only release, although he played at least a few road dates as there is a poster from c1967 advertising a gig at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditiorium featuring Little Gary, The Mothers Of Invention, Count Five and The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. Oh, to have a time machine and go back and see THAT gig!

from 1967...

Greetings ruler of the world's greatest music blog, and thank you for being fab!

I tried to download Little Gary Ferguson's song today, but could only get a page asking me to join DivShare. I did, hoping it would then direct me to the download page, but no dice. I just get the sign up with DivShare page again. Any advice?

Hi!

Am I the only one having problems downloading songs from DivShare?

When I click on the DivShare logo in the player, I am being sent to www.divshare.com instead of the normal file page. This is happening in Firefox 4, IE 7 and Chrome.

Has something recently changed, or am I missing something blindingly obvious?

Chris

PS: Thanks as always for the tunes!

Derek, I just discovered that clicking on divshare links takes you to a sign-in page now. Do you know anything about this change? Thanks. Marie

Wow, a mind boggling song.

By the way, the show you mentioned Derek also featured The Factory and Kenny Dino and took place at Shrine Exp. Hall on September 17 and was held by Pat Morgan.

Hmmm, don't know what's happening with divshare, hopefully its just a temporary thing. As some might know, Windows 7 decided it would be a cool idea to remove the record direct sound capability from the operating system, so no more recording audio off you tube clips. Anyway, I found a free app called freecorder, it sits in the browser as an add on, and it allows you to record audio direct from the sound card, so anything you can hear through your speakers you can record, it even lets you save video and stuff if your interested in that. So this stupid divshare business has forced me to download freecorder and it works just fine, although I'm not vouching for it or anything, but I think it's safe. Now it's time for me to check out those Little Gary you tube clibs, now's that I can record audio and all. Oooheeee!

I have a Firefox browser addon called Download Helper. You start listening to the music and its little icon at the top starts revolving then you can click the little arrow at the right of the icon to download the music file. You might have to rename the file but it works fine. HTH
