TONY OWENS - CONFESSIN' A FEELING

Releasing only a scant 12 singles in a 24 year period, this New Orleans singer made a far deeper mark on the city's soul scene than his small discography would otherwise indicate. Tony has been performing in NOLA clubs since the '60's, and after a hiatus he is back on stage (I saw him @ The Ponderosa Stomp a few years back, and he sounded fantastic).

This record did make the national r&b charts, but it also seems to be one of those records that regionally (NOLA and the south) did far better than the actual chart position. I featured Sly, Slick & Wicked's version of thios song here a few years back, and I have to say I love both version equally. Simply an incredible song!

This Div share method just doesn't work for me - so much waiting. Am I supposed to sign up to DivShare to make it bearable? And the download in the end is SOOO slow?
Such a shame, but this way has too much friction.

Try to look at it from my perspective. I spend a great deal of my time hunting down records, deep cleaning them, transferring them to fantastic sounding digital files, researching them to write something interesting, scanning the record, then posting it to a blog practically EVERY day. Do you have any idea how many hours of my own time I have put into this blog? Is a 3-5 minute download really such a great chore?

Wow, what an amazing song, and a great way to to get introduced to the blog.

I'll definitely start to visit the blog, on a daily basis.

I'm hoping this doesn't interfere with your plans, but I'm thinking I'll post the flip-side of this 45 tomorrow morning. I've been meaning to for sometime, in fact the post is 90% ready to go. Let me know if it's a problem, ok?

Ana, GO FOR IT! I would never mind a double post, as great minds think alike :-)

Derek, I'm afraid I don't understand how to listen to these. I don't see any links or player or anything.

I am sad. :(

@ Risser- Sometimes you just have to refresh the page, depending on your browser, for the box with the track to come up. It's there, trust me!

Hi Derek, I for one am so grateful to you for introducing me to all of the great music that you post here. If gelliddewi is new to divshare, I think he may have encountered its almost continuous malfunctioning this weekend. When it's working it's great, when it's not, Grrrrr! It's just another example, though, of some visitors never being satisfied - these are FREE songs folks!! How about a thank you for a new tune almost 365 days of the year, instead of childish complaints. Thanks Derek.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about the download time. I didn't pay for DIVshare and I download from Derek's site in about 2 seconds. Thanks for the great tunes Derek. I miss the daily e-mail but I know how much effort it takes to manage music files so no complaints ever from me. I have been introduced to so much hard to find amazing music from 45's thanks to Derek's site I can't say enough thank you's....but thank you thank you thank you.....

Ah, I see. You are using a divShare thingy, but at work (where I am... shhh!) they block divShare. I will endeavor to retrieve them from home.

Thanks!
