Like so many great singers from the south, Charles Whitehead moved north from Virginia to New York City in search of a music career. Charles was signed apparently pretty quickly upon arrival by producer Jerry Williams (aka Swamp Dogg), and had a handful of releases on various labels before this late '72 gem was released.
This song has a fantastic chorus that gets stuck rattling around my brain, and the musical backing is pure New York City raw soul, topped with Charles' excellent southern vocals.

Great tune! (But of course it is, it's a Swamp Dogg production). W.
