TINA TURNER - YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED


Even though Ike & The Kings of Rhythm are credited on the label, this is (I think) the first record where Tina Turner received the top billing that she deserved; the record also is, to my ears, one that shows a path of independence starting to clear a way for what this amazing woman was to do in later years.

In a massive catalog of records this may very well be my favorite performance from Tina.

This is a great tune, but the one I'd really like to see rescued from obscurity is 'Betcha can't kiss me...' If only someone could scrub the chipmunk b. vocs!

Fantastic track. I saw the Great Lady perform in Paris and Sheffield some years back. Absolutely amazing as she was back in the good old days...
