Yawn

To all of those who write with negative comments, insults, "calling me out" on bootleg pressings, etc. You know, people that hide behind an "anonymous" moniker.

This site is not about "collecting" records per se. It's about CELEBRATING great music and education about the obscure (not only the reader but myself as well).

Yeah, I've posted a few records that are reissues/ boots. Not often; 99% of my collection consists of original pressings. So what. If I were more intelligent I'd sell some of my originals, replace them with reissues and take the money and go on a nice vacation with my girlfriend.

For the most part, I do not publish these comments because I find them irrelevant.

This is the only post I will make of this nature as I like to stick to the positive!

Don't let you get bugged by idiots out there!!! It's your blog, and you can post what you like. I love your style, and hey, it's the music that counts. I post also what I want, so everybody can enjoy it, not only a group of selected few.
Keep up the good stuff m8!!!

That's the internet for you...

Fuck em. Keep doing what you are doing.

insert individual insult for that kind of critic here:

apart from that: I enjoy listening to the songs on your blog, big time. Maybe that's because I love music, not pressings... whoopsie, just destroyed my credibility. Damnit!

Derek, don't let the 'haters' get you down mate! You do a great job, it's a fantastic blog that makes many people happy, and as you said, it's about great music, not being an 'anorak'. There will always be those pedants out there who get caught up in the minutiae and miss the most important part, the sheer love of music!

We're looking forward to your visit to London and hearing your set. Should be a great night.

From a simple fan of good music, I thank you. Alex

Unfortunately it's always the people with the least on their minds with the most words to say it with. Don't pay them any mind. I have been turned on to so many great records thanks to your blog. As far as I am concerned, it's the music that's important -not whether the source is a reissue, bootleg or whatever. You're doing a superb job.

this is a hell of a blog! I've learned a lot from you. People who post negatively about stuff like "reissues" or "bootleg pressings" are just pathetic.

Thanks all for your kind words. These past two weeks have been especially bad and it was really bumming me out. However, the ratio of positive to negative comments and emails is almost always 20 to 1 on the positive side.

Reminds me of the, "real DJs don't play mp3s" stuff. Music isn't about the format and it's the music that matters.

Keep up the great work.

It's a real shame you have to put up with ludicrous remarks like you have mentioned Derek. Your blog is the best of its kind, so ignore what some idiots are saying (probably all the work of just one small minded little toerag) and keep on keepin on!

Anyone who is into serial numbers and first issue pressings aren;t really into the music. Let 'em cuddle up to a Goldmine Price Guide for warmth at night. Thanks for posting this great and generally unavailable music

Wow. Amazing that someone would trip on which pressing you are playing.
Get real people! Latch on to something in life that actually matters!

Love the blog--it is both entertaining and enlightening. Hope you can see beyond those insular and trivial comments.

There's too many pathetic bozos out there. This Blog is one of the best and is a mind opener. Who gives a dam about the pressings???This is about the love of music. Don't waste time on those stooges, ...

Oh my God
"real DJs don't play mp3s"

I know there was something faked around. Last night DJ played mp3s.

Derek -

It's the music, and your passion, intelligence, commitment & humor that matter - all of which are VERY appreciated. I've said it before, & I'll say it again - thank you!!!

F* the bozos -

Just another fan here and love your postings . I'm a record collector just like hundreds that check out your blog site. One thing I can't stand are those geeky record "Queers" IT"S ABOUT THE MUSIC"!! Carry on Derek.

Derek,
I'm not often compelled to respond to something I've read on a blog, but in this case I have to - and say that most of the tracks you post are new to me and many have enriched my life! Thanks!

I wonder why people even allow comments any more. I realize not to is extreme, but most undermine my faith in humanity.

I'll never forget a post from Portugal about nine years ago asking to download "all the hits" for free, no irony intended.

Thanks for doing what you do.issi

Derek,

Out of a gazillion other options, your blog is one of the first stops I make Every Day because it is simply one of the best spots on the intertubes. I can't tell you how many times your hobby has made my day. For those of us that live for finding That Obscure Classic, it's aces. So thank you, if only for "There's a Break in the Road." sheeeeeeeeeeeeeit.

Derek, as Kris Kristofferson would say, don't let the bastards get you down. I love your blog, and all the terrific music that it's exposed me to, and I hope you continue it for a long, long time.

That's the down side of the Internet. Everyone has an opinion, whether they know what they're talking about or not. Pay those idiots no mind. Your site is a godsend, Derek!

Derek, you and your 45's often make the day for so many people here, including me. As my students would say, "shake the haters off" and keep doing what your doing. In my opinion, true music lovers are those who hear (on original, reissue, whatever) and are so excited that they want to share what they have found and the ensuing feelings with the rest of the world; It's not about being the person with the mint condition rarity. 45's should be preloved just a bit before reaching the next person...do you know what I mean?!?

Holly said...

Uptownjen's observation deserves a double post ...

Yes, uptownjen, I know exactly what you mean. Your eloquence made me smile - thank you.

I look at your blog daily and I don't know or care if the records are reissues or originals. I just like the records and the information that goes with them. If it wasn't for boots and reissues there are a whole lotta great records I wouldn't have ever heard. Keep up the excellent and entertaining work! NAC

Hey, I'm "Anonymous" and I've nothing but 100% pure love for your blog!! It's at the top of my list of bookmarked blogs. I just don't have, want or need a Google account.

Ignore the neysayers and keep posting the finest cuts in blogland. W.

Hey Derek,
don't let those fools get at you. The internet may be a great chance for real-life losers to open their big yap, but it's also a place for meeting great people from all over the world and sharing mutual loves, in this case music (and I'm very happy that I found your blog).
It's great holding an original of a superb tune in my sweaty hands, but anybody who makes a religion out of it could as well be collecting stamps, at a certain point it's not about the music anymore...and that's not my scene
keep the fire burnin'

I also enjoy the songs you share with all of us! It always seems to be the 1% that are jerks that can ruin your day - focus on the 99% that are good and decent! Thanks!

Thanks alot everyone...I truly should have mentioned that it is incredibly rewarding to get the positive comments from listeners and also many of the artists themselves have written positive notes.
