As someone who has loved all music 60's for my entire life, the phenomenon of Frankie Valli has always been a real mystery to me. As a fan of smooth falsetto voices, Frankie's shrill one just doesn't jive with my central nervous system. Sorry.
HOWEVER, on this record he leaves the high parts to female backing vocalists and sings in his normal register to great effect on a superb song that is guaranteed to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day at least, and perhaps weeks.

FRANKIE VALLI - YOU'RE READY NOW

If it hangs around in my head all day, you'll hear about it! Seriously though, I actually like it. Would it have been played at one of the later Northern clubs, maybe Wigan or Blackpool Mecca? Has that beat. Marie
Derek, I forgot to say thank you! Marie
Agree with you about the usual overbearing falsetto, but the girls in the background on this one are just too, too much. Sorta grating. Shows the value of the smooth 4 Seasons back-up. Never knew Frankie popped up on Smash. Always thought of that as a rocker label. BTW: Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" has nary a one falsetto moment.
Good side. I hadn't heard this one before. Thank you!
Nice one.. the only version I'd heard of this before was by 70's UK punk band Slaughter & the Dogs! Maybe MM is right and it got played on the Northern scene and Slaughter picked up on it via that scene..?
